I first contacted Rich at Woody WoodDeckers when I was looking for a contractor to build our pergola. I had an unusual design idea that I needed an experienced contractor to advise me on. His quote was competitive, but much more importantly for me was his obvious wealth of experience and collaborative approach. He was genuinely interested in working with me on the design, even for our small project. He provided great insight to ensure structural integrity and suggested improvements to how the structure would look within our garden. During construction the team was excellent and very happy to answer any questions I had. Rich was also there a couple of times each day to check on progress and quality. Ironically, I’m writing this note from my favorite “room” at the house - my Woody WoodDeckers-built, octagon shaped gazebo located atop of my Woody Woodeckers-built, 1,400 square foot two-level deck.  Rain or shine, it offers the perfect combination of providing shelter from the elements and enhancing the feel and look of our wooded backyard.   Rich’s client-focused design included a multi-speed, circulating fan along with both overhead and accent/dimmer lighting which supports its primary use as my “man cave” (for “home” work, reading, and occasional beer drinking), but also serves as the preferred venue for our gathering of family and friends.  To further promote and enhance our outdoor focus, we also asked Rich to design and build a 16’ x 16’ pergola nearby on the deck.  Looks fantastic!  We enjoy the deck and both structures as much now, as the day they were built (nearly two years ago).  Rich and his team were very professional and completed the project on time, within budget and above our expectations.  We give it a “10”!

It is easy to write a review of someone’s work when they stand head and shoulders above other contractors.  Rich Woody of WoodyDeckers is one of those exceptional contractors that I take pleasure in endorsing, but let me be specific:

He made my somewhat complicated deck project a one-stop shopping experience -- coordinating, without being asked to do so, with the company that sold us our hot tub so that the result was a seamless construction of a beautiful and solid deck that supports our rather large hot tub.  Rich and his crew even voluntarily stayed late a couple hours to help the hot tub installers install the very heavy hot tub (about 1,000 lbs without water) onto the newly constructed deck.

We have enjoyed the deck immensely, and all of our visitors are very complimentary.  Rich designed the deck in a very pleasing way on steep-sloped, difficult terrain.  He was very flexible with his approach and worked through several design plans until we arrived at the design we wanted.  That saved me separate fees for design work, which was greatly appreciated.  Rich and his crew showed up on time, every time, and completed the project on budget.  Contrary to what I have experienced with other contractors and their crews, there was no waiting and wondering when and whether an appointment would be kept.  

Rich’s crew was very professional, leaving no mess to pick up and no worries on my part.  I can’t give a stronger recommendation.  We are delighted with the result and the performance of Rich and his crew in getting us our wonderful deck and hot tub.
